Educators say more Michigan college students are focusing on entrepreneurism
When they say, “good morning, boss,” more Michigan college students want to be looking in the mirror.
That’s the result of a survey of undergraduates at Michigan State University, which found that 8,500 undergraduates listed “entrepreneurship” as their chief career choice on myspartancareer.com over the past three years.
“I’m seeing it all over the state of Michigan,” said Paul Jaques, director of MSU internship programs. “Students are interested in entrepreneurship, working in co-work spaces and incubators. Some don’t want to go the traditional route of working for corporations. A lot of them have said to me, ‘I don’t want to work in a cubicle the rest of my life.’”
