Lesson Title:  The Impact of US Entrepreneurs

Learning Objectives:

  1. Students will gain a better understanding of how and why US entrepreneurs got their start
  2. Students will be able to connect historical, geographical, governmental, and economical relationships to the development of a business
  3. Students will be able to work on research skills
  4. Students will be able to work on presentation skills

Materials Needed:  Presentation medium (power point, poster board, etc)

Resources Needed:  Library and/or internet resources, document camera with projector, Smartboard, and/or visual aid props

Instructions: 

  1. Choose an American entrepreneur
  2. Research your entrepreneur’s personal background and business beginnings (provide a works cited page)
  3. Identify how the following factors influenced the success/limitations of your entrepreneur’s business:

                                Historical

                                Geographical

                                Governmental

                                Economical

  1. Identify your entrepreneur’s impact on today
  2. Identify negative consequences from your entrepreneur’s impact
  3. Present #3, #4, and #5 to the class in an effective and creative way using technology or visual aid props

                79-70%   --  All of #3, #4, and #5 were identified; work sited page provided; information was accurate 

                69-60%   --  Presentation was completed but had major flaws in at least one of the criteria
