IGNITE: Sparking Tomorrow’s Entrepreneurs Today
The IGNITE Team is made possible by the generous support of the C.S. Mott Foundation and its funding of the “Moving Ideas to Market” initiative, implemented and led by the Prima Civitas Foundation.
Action Team Goals
- To foster student interest and knowledge about entrepreneurship, increasing the rate of entrepreneurship in Michigan in the future.
- To create seamless linkages among high schools, community colleges, and colleges/universities for pursuit of entrepreneurship education.
Strategies of IGNITE Entrepreneurship Action Team
To accomplish the mission of the workteam, the IGNITE Team has three workgroups:
- Information/Resource Portal: Portal resource to highlight best practice models and master calendar of youth events
- Events for Students: Highlighting and sponsoring events aimed at engaging young entrepreneurs
- Events for Teachers: Ongoing professional development opportunities for teachers and/or educators working with entrepreneurship programs
IGNITE Projects
- Coordinating the statewide IGNITE Annual Youth Business Plan Competition - (targets grades 6 - 12)
- Conducting the IGNITE Educator Stipend Program - awarding teachers with monetary stipends for submitting their entrepreneurial lesson plans to us for promotion on the portal
- Assisting in the development of youth business plan competitions in Clinton County and Genesee County
- Exploring best practice models for teachers and students and publicizing that information
- Promoting of Michigan young entrepreneurs through the National Consortium for Entrepreneur Education's Future CEO Stars Magazine
